@jfxnc, nope, no difference in using indicators or trendline or pivot points. its all depend on your own perception and skill with your tools, all a trader does is try to find a high probablity trade that is all. you can find such trades through indicators, trendlines, pivot points or a fundi. just whatever you grow to be comfortable with. i personally trade almost naked but thats just me. (trying to get a point where i can trade the market in its birth suit some time in the future ^.^)
@narafa, coming back to the title of the thread. why dont we use technology to its fullest potential. if you are looking for the general direction of the real estate market,
wouldnt it be interesting to see a realstate index fund/etf for both country and do your high probability trade there but flip it back to life and purchase a house at a less value or sell it at a higher value. just a thought (off course, neighborhood, what type of house will affect the increase/decrease in value of that particular house, i alluded to what i think will be the higher probability trade(investment) in my previous edited post and my reason, but thats just my own perspective )
for these long term trades (investments) shouldn't we use monthly candles if not yearly? if we are so good at trading, shouldnt we be able to predict what the real estate will do in the future? this shows the relative nature of the market to real life things. and if i remove the time stamp and price from the x and y axis, can you tell the difference between a monthly versus daily versus 1 hour candles?? i attached some examples below:
and this goes back to another question i posted on my previous post. this shows the fractual nature of the market. (an answer relative to an question is circular in nature)
Now here is the kicker in the bucket, after reading this real state fund on monthly/yearly chart, do you feel comfortable buying/selling a house in either countries? what does that tell you about your trading confidence? (just thought to help you a bit in saving/making some money)
again, more rabbling from me, take it for what it is worth:

A theory on distribution of power/wealth
================================
wealth = power and power = wealth, they are more or less interchangeable in nature. money buy off politicians, politician can close down your shop. as Eisenstein says: its all relative. darn, i just posted one of the answer to my previous post, see the circular nature of things??
here goes:

Anyway, this is very general and i dont have any hard statistical proof of this but should be rather interesting to expand upon.
My gf() is left handed and I am right handed. She is an awesome writer and I accelerate in math learning. I always thought through my subconscious that if she put in as much effort in sharpening her edge as i do mine, she will be more successful than me. Now, today, I am able to bring this subconscious idea of mine to the conscious level.
Having the power to plant a seed of an idea is VERY powerful and can not be done with statistics alone (just facts).
I just had another interesting thought when i digged a bit deeper.
As of 2007, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 34.6% of all privately held wealth and the next 19% owned another 50% of wealth. It is thought that about 10% of people are left-handed. For making my math easier in my head, i simply think of the top 10 percent having more of less of 50 % of the world's Wealth (cant seem to find a hard figure on just the top ten percent. do you think they dont want people to make this correlation???) but i think the top 10 percent have much more than 50%, why do you think I think that way?
also, lets just say that if the chance of a right handed or left handed person becoming someone powerful/wealthy is 50:50. looking on to the presidents, of the recent presidents, Gerald Ford, Ronal Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and now Barrack Obama (McCain also a leftie) are all left handed. Monkey Bush is right handed (but being nurtured by a leftie). so if the ability to rise to a power position is 50:50 for right handed vs left handed, then the chance of the current occurance is 1:100000. I don't think thats a coincidence. also i believe that were more older presidents that were born lefties but was made to use the right hand. (lefties were burnt at the stake at one point in history).
If you believe the above is more of less true. What do you think the advantage of a leftie being in power position versus a right handed person. (with everything being equal) (^.^, think about it )
I am also going to be running my own experiment with rats in the lab in the coming months on impulsivity (one press= 1gram pellets vs 5 press = 10 gram pellet). be interesting to see if this trait is expressed at birth through genetics and whats even more interesting is to see if through extinction of reward, followed by the reinstatement of bigger reward with 5presses. and whether the rat will revert back to its innate nature right away. (the queen bee/ant gene if you will, but not associated with any distinct phenotypical difference)
================================================
now, i am not saying left handed person is meant to be leader or right handed person is meant to be worker.
theories are not facts but it does offer some good correlations and a refreshing perspective on things
