I'll be forward testing the EA in post #171 on EURUSD M30 from tonight.
I won't be letting the EA trade during the Asian Session.

DislikedHi Pete. Can't recall if I've previously posted my main reason for wanting to automate this Alf/Alma system, so at the risk of repeating myself, I'll state it here. It was to capitalize on the strong, definitive moves that often occur during the London session, that, unfortunately for me, kicks off at midnight my time. The plan was to turn it on at bedtime and turn it off in the morning, when I could then trade the market manually.Ignored
DislikedThe EA has trading hours settings. You just have to tell it which hours to stay in. It uses your computer clock.Ignored
DislikedMike, I had a look through the code and I'm not sure this version uses ALMA at all. It uses a close under/ over the ALF line with a MA and RSI as entry filters.
I think using an ALMA or a standard MA cross of the ALF would work well to remove many false entries.

DislikedYou are correct, Peter. This version uses Alf only. Earlier in the thread, Steve coded a couple of bots with both Alf and Alma. You'd have to look back to find them, but I don't think they tested very well. Can you modify code? If so, give it a try. Alma is basically a 5LWMA, only slightly smoother. It mirrored price so closely that it was dropped and price took its place.

DislikedI altered the post 72 ea as Steve asked me too, & reposted it back at post 101 (page 7).
I have since noticed an error in the 2nd line that I altered.
Will re-draw my little pencil lines crossing pics again & recheck the trend function logic.
Had intended to run tests on the M15 on just the Alf with price action, but since this ea had the trend checking using the Alma-Alf crossing, it was looking as though it showed a little earlier than my Alf & PA on a chart.
Ran it as it was to start with. Slowly did alterations to try to get it to my Alf &...Ignored

DislikedScalpz, Mike, I think I have a solution to improving the ALF , ALMA and that is to add a MA as a filter.
Looking at the attached example on 1hr charts a MA alf cross with a MA filter. The MTF RSI may work as well but I like a 50ema.
The key to the strategy I think is to run a break even from 15 to 20 pips with a take profit of 30 to 40 pips on EURUSD.
Enter on signal of MA cross over, I also suggest a tight sl of say 20 pips.
I have attached an indicator that signals an ALF MA cross. Generally a MA cross with setting 2,1,0 gives best signals...Ignored
Dislikedjust back tested these ideas posted above, with the set file.
The straight line upwards looks great.. but if you look objectively, there are some periods where the positions are open for months and months...

DislikedHi Pinhead,
Can you please discribe your manual system to follow the EA on chart.
and which time frames you use.
Best regards.
tsidki.Ignored
DislikedSure. For a buy: 1) ALF must be above the EMA. 2) RSI must be above 50. 3) Price must cross ALF from below. 4) A subsequent candle must move higher than the high of the crossing candle.
Opposite for a sell.
That's the original version. Personally, I found the EMA to be redundant. RSI & ALF give me enough information to enter a trade confidently. I use the opposite side of ALF, plus a few pips, as SL. Trading only during high volume hours is key. Those are all options you can select in user inputs of the EA (except for using ALF as SL).
Hmmm....Ignored
DislikedThanks Mike,
is there any special settings for EMA,RSI and ALF?
What time frame you use?
Best regards
