Hello Everyone,
I think this thread is quite interesting I develop and trade mechanical systems for a living and I believe I could provide some insights for those interested in doing this exact same thing.
Definitely the evaluation of strategies in quantifiable ways is vital for long term success and - in my mind - obtaining the profit and draw down targets of a strategy is the first thing anyone should do when attempting to trade a system to achieve profitability.
I have developed several mechanical systems and written several articles for Currency Trader Magazine (you can read my latest contribution in August's edition, my name is Daniel Fernandez) so you will be able to learn more about the way in which I develop systems and what my goals are there.
My main focus is always in reliable simulations and the simpleness of the systems. I don't believe that systems must be complicated and I have proved that success can be achieved with systems that may seem quite simple but which are powerful at exploiting market inefficiencies as market conditions change. Simple adaptability and robustness have proved to be vital concepts for my systems.
Later I will open some threads to share a few of my developments with you In the meantime I would be glad to answer some of the questions you may have here,
Best Regards,
Daniel
