You make it sound that Europe is some random savage place where riots are a everyday thing.
Strikes yes, France, Italy, Greece public sector lives on strike in good or bad times is part of the status quo. Unemployment? I doubt. Spain hit the 20% plateau (which is horrible) the rest estimates are more less the same as always a very mediocre 8% average.
Don't forget that apart from the UK to a certain extend, austerity measures have less social impact because of the social safety networks across Europe (unemployment benefits, free education, health, etc ) that made them sluggish during booms but more resistant during difficult times.
Also, in the long term if austerity measure works (if they manage to follow them) will put the EZ miles away in term of macroeconomic health in the long run in comparison with the US.

DislikedBig boys know austerity measures are on the way in just a couple weeks cutting EZ GDP an estimated 4% avg. More riots, strikes,unemployed etc. .Ignored
