20 wins for 20 in backtests, 4% max drawdown. Dam Steve this bot trades a whole hell of a lot better than I do.
Great Job!

DislikedMy only concern with the backtests is that it seems that some trades go a long way in the wrong direction before they close. The final equity curve is very nice, but you need b@lls of st3ll in the meantime while you wait for these "rogue" trades to turn around....
.... Unless you guys have found a good set up that has some sort of reasonable SL but still makes good profit overall? (And backtesting is also not an exact science anyway, so we will see what happens on demo and live.)Ignored
DislikedI was testing the latest version of FX Compass on the 1H. When I fix it to the live charts the SL's are displayed as generally being between 30 and 40 points...So I'm not sure what you mean about the huge distance-that was the issue with the earlier version, which came up with big loosers at the end of the test session. Honestly, I don't even know how to set this up on the bigger charts. It only seems to conform to the intraday range. But absolutely, live and backtests are two different things, I was just comparing to the backtest results of previous...Ignored
DislikedFor what it is worth, here is where I am.
My latest enhancements have made it possible for me to cut down on time frames.
Live, I am now trading the D1 tf.
On demo, I am down to the H1 and making a bomb.

I think this is an interesting point: If we can define what a runaway losing trade would look like, then we can program it into the EA to cut it off. What I am wondering is, if trades take a while sometimes to turn around, how can we distinguish which will end up coming back and which will go off into oblivion?
Perhaps one answer would be to have a time limit. After all, a candle triggers a trade on the previous candle's fib, so we would expect it to be closed within the next candle or two, and if it took 10 candles to hit TP, we...Ignored
DislikedNice work with this new bot Steve!
It has made me on demo 5% in the last 2 days with very little DD. Trading hour tweaks are 5-11 and 19-24.
AWESOME EFFORT!
Downloading the latest/greatest version and notice the ECN support has been removed. :-(
Aware of your opinion on this front, however what kind/brand and how many carton's of beer delivered to your house would be required to convince you to keep ECN support in the current/future versions of bot ?
Humblest of the humble requests.
Keep up the great work champ,

DislikedHi there!
been following silently until now...
another very promissing pair of EAs from our beloved Steve !
I experience veeeeeeery slow backtesting with these bots... and they are cpu killers when running on multiple charts in parallel.
Vinesh seem to have pointed the same issue, so i'm not the only unlucky one...
I found the reason for these cpu killers: the DisplayUserFeedback() function.
With the fixes below backtesting will go lightspeed...
Here is a simple fix for backtesting purpose: add the bold line below as shown...Ignored

Backtesters, the enhancements make a huge difference. I have added them to both the robots in post 1.
A have also added the ability to turn of the screen feedback altogether.

On the market window is a 1 period sma used to avoid trading 'huggies', but I leave you to work out for yourselves what that means, and a 25 period Bollinger Band.
In the indicator window are:
I am not going into how all these work in combination here - you need to get hold of Bob's book to read this.
What I will say, is that this gives us a complete trade-direction finder that will make fltr a very powerful tool indeed. You can see from the pic that I have already started the trading robot, and that I have sussed how to calculate the chart divisions.
Once I have completed the indicator-reading section, this becomes the trade-direction finder module that we can use here - in fact can use in any trading robot that is not trying to jump on a trend.
This is looking brilliant.
DislikedAttached is a picture of nanningbob's complete trade-direction filter.
I finally managed to grasp the fact that 'dem markets, dey go up, den dey come down again, den dey go up again.......'. What I hadn't grasped is the significance of the price relative to the top/bottom of the chart.
The attached indi divides the chart into 6ths. Without going into a lot of detail, Bob predicates:

DislikedHave been using this for a while now & indeed it is very useful.
Attached is a version I have modded which allows you to input the number of bars to look back. For instance if you are on M15 and want to only use the last 48 hours of data to draw the 6 screen segments, input 192 bars etc.
Hope this is useful ....Ignored
