DislikedI've also been working on programming an EA based on momentum-based scalping utilising both the first and second derivative of price action to try and discern entry points. I'd be very interested in part-taking in the testing and tweaking of this EA, hayseed.
Very interesting you should say all that fxspeedster - I've been formulating strategies based on a similar concept. I had not considered counting the time between ticks however - I was examining the velocity and acceleration of price changes purely as a function of time. Have you had any...Ignored
I am not parsing any raw tick data per se. but I am storing the calculations in a rolling buffer and updating it with every incoming tick. To save time if the EA is shut down, I am storing some values Globally so that when I power back the EA the Global values are ready and the EA can trade immediately. When we get ready to incorporate TI into the EA you will get a much better idea how I coded it and what the results are. Obviously, you cannot backtest the EA with TI since MT4 does not store ticks and even if it did.. the intervals would be played at a constant interval by the backtest engine, but you can see the results almost instantly when the EA places 50-100 trades per 24 hrs per pair based on the TI concept alone. Very exciting to see!
Cheers
If it backtests good run it live!
