Well one last post before I go on holiday (I think the ship has internet access, fingers crossed)
Anyway I have been able to replicate the fozzy method for use within Dealbook 360.
Here are the details:
I have attached the two files needed to reproduce the fozzy method in dealbook.
The first file : RSI_with_SMA.ctl
This as the name suggests contains the information required to draw a Simple Moving Average using the values from the RSI. All you need to is open the file using Chart Studio, verify it and then install the module. It will now show up in Dealbook 360 as RSI_with_Simple_Moving_Average.
The second file : RSI_with_BollingerBands.ctl
This file contains the information needed to draw the Bollinger Bands using the RSI values. Open the file using chart studio, verify then install the module.
It will now show up in Dealbook as RSI_with_Bollinger_Bands.
***Note you will initally see extra lines that are not required (the are for the calculations, but don't need to be displayed)
Now to add the indicators to Dealbook
- select the pair of choice and time frame (I think the time frame of choice is daily for the fozzy method)
- Select Setup Indicator
- Click Add, then select RSI_with_SMA and ensure "Add on new subgraph" is selected
now to add the other indicator
- highlight Subgraph1
- Click Add, then select RSI_with_Bollinger_Bands, ensure "Add on new subgraph" is not selected.
now we need make some changes to some of the settings and also to hide some extra lines that will appear if you close the chart indicator window.
- Highlight RIS_with_Simple_Moving_Average select the "Inputs" tab
- Price: Close
- Period: 8
- Hi baseline: 70 (or your choice)
- Lo baseline: 30 (or your choice)
- Displacement: 0 (not sure what changing this will do)
- Pace: 1 (not sure what changing this will do)
- With RIS_with_Simple_Moving_Average still selected, select the "Style" tab
- Lines:
- RSI: Visible (your colour of choice)
- SMA: Visible (your colour of choice)
- HI Base: Visible (your colour of choice)
- LO Base: Visible (your colour of choice)
- Lines:
- Click apply
- Highlight RSI_with_Bollinger_Bands and select the "Inputs" tab
- Price:Close
- Period: 20
- Hi baseline: 70 (make it the same as the previous indicator)
- Lo baseline: 30 (make it the same as the previous indicator)
- Deviations: 2 (not sure what changing this will do)
- Displacement: 0 (not sure what changing this will do)
- With RSI_with_Bollinger_Bands still selected, select the "Style" tab
- Lines:
- RSI: deselect visible and Draw as histogram
- HI Base: deselect visible and Draw as histogram
- LO Base: deselect visible and Draw as histogram
- Mid BB: select visible, deselect Draw as histogram (your personal choice of Style, Color, Width)
- Upper BB: select visible, deselect Draw as histogram (your personal choice of Style, Color, Width)
- Lower BB: select visible, deselect Draw as histogram (your personal choice of Style, Color, Width)
- Lines:
Click "Apply" then OK. You should now see the indicators.
Some reasoning for how I have had to set it up this way (if your interested).
Since I am still only learning how to code in chart studio, I don't know if you can have different time periods for one indicator so in order to work around requiring the Bollinger Bands to have a period set to 20, I had to basically duplicate the RSI information in a new file. If you don't hide the RSI line in the RSI with BB file you will see two very different RSI lines (could be usefull but at this stage it looks like spagetti to me).
Anyway, hope this helps.
