Quoting pepotgDislikedThe ibook has 1.42 Ghz powerPC g4 and 256MB DDR SDRAM. Pardon me Traders i'm new to Mac so when you say it's Java based then i still don't have an idea. My question then is if i use the G4 ibook and download the platform from Oanda (is it free for life just like Metatrader4?) do i jhave to do some configuring, etc? But the thing which sets me back is that the Guppy system i'm learning is supportd on MT4 which runs only on windows. I know there are many more trading systems that can run on a Mac so if you could suggest one that i can learn then i'll check it out. Thanks a lot!!!

Quoting Beachie41DislikedThe problem you will encounter is that if you wish to run Metatrader "experts" on another platform, you'll need to find a Mac program that will allow you to port the code. Offhand I don't know of any. While I like Mac's, in the trading world you'll find your constantly butting your head against a software wall.
Have you thought about just buying a cheap Windows box/laptop just for trading? You don't need anything highly spec'ed. A 700mhz Toshiba 14" should only set you back $150-300.
As for Oanda, yes it's free for life, but somehow I think it's charting capabilities are not what your looking for. Either way, open a free demo account & try it out.Ignored
Quoting Pip DaddyDislikedUnfortunately, if you plan on trading on a Mac, you're pretty much limited to trading platforms using Java such Oanda or Gain (forex.com). The trade execution on the platforms are fine, the main issue is their charting feature aren't all that great. The "download and install" programs are much better and faster than Web-based Java platforms,Ignored

The "download and install" programs are much better and faster than Web-based Java platforms, but you'll have to get a PC for that! PCs are pretty inexpensive. Dell sells desktops with solid specs for about 50-60 pips. You probably could have bought 2 PCs for the price of your overpriced iBook. Look on the bright side though, you may not be able to trade on your iBook, but at least it looks good.Ignored
