DislikedA few weeks in and Crossover is still working well. Had a glitch this weekend but I found out it was due to the Stop level being set to zero when using the MarketInfo function at a particular dealer's server I was using - I kept getting Error 130 on the OrderModify function as a result - took a while to find the reason and it was annoying to say the least!
Anyway that a few questions on the Codeweaver setup. To run a backtest tick by tick from 1999 to now it is taking around 25 minutes. I have a 2 month old 2.1ghz Macbook with standard 1 gig of RAM. Its a fairly simple EA although obviously not as simple as the supplied ones (the MACD one that comes with MT4 takes 2 minutes to run).
1) Does 25 minutes sound reasonable to you?
2) Also the fan is on constantly while running the test. Is that normal too?
3) If I were looking to improve the run time which would be a better option - would increasing RAM help? I know generally the answer is yes but I don't know specifically how MT4 works with RAM.
4) Given extra RAM Would a VM or Parallells installation run quicker than Codeweavers?
Thanks in advance.Ignored
2) The fan running sounds correct. It will do this when engaged in lots of processing.
3) Don't know if bumping the RAM will help. Seems like this process is really processor related.
4) VM and Parallels are known to not be as fast as the "real" thing. CrossOver is far closer to the real thing as it's using actual Windows DLLs. I seriously doubt those options would yield better performance.
If you discover answers to some of these issues, please ping back. Thanks.
