Hey Tiki, shit happens. If I had any advise it would be to stick to higher time frames and use a position sizing model that has a defined risk. Then set it and forget it. In fact the Daily ATR 14,2 works well and keeps you out of the noise. I can't remember where I got the ATR indicator from but it also helps with position sizing. Sure you might have stops 150+ away but then you only adjust the stops once ATR moves up. I use this system in the equities market and just now figuring how to apply it to forex.
Your not an idiot and we all make mistakes. I once shorted a stock I was to take long and did not realize until the next day. This kicked my ass and took a nice chunk from my ass. Hey dust off and stick with one system... I think the more desisions one makes the more chances of messing up.
