DislikedI don't want to spoil the party or anything but I'd like to ask those who've been trading successfully for a long time a few questions.
I've been impressed by this system like everyone else but if you look back at data 7 or 8 years ago it doesnt seem to work so well back then.
I've been trying one way or another to get technical analysis to work for me without success on and off for 5 to 10 years. Now this could be that I'm not suited to trading but it could also be due to the fact that TA doesn't work. Like this system, TA systems seem to work in fits and starts - one year system A works fine and system B doesn't and the next year things are reversed. To me this comes across as an indication that the systems are not really measuring anything at all in the predictive sense but are simply reflecting the random nature of the markets, sometimes producing a profit and sometimes not.
I've grappled with this issue for a long time and I'm still undecided about the real nature of the markets and whether they really are able to be walked forward accurately.
It seems to me that if the markets were predictable longterm the guys with the megabuck computers and technical knowhow would all be billionaires by now and not flogging their indicators and systems to the great unwashed.
Your views would be appreciated, especially from those who actually make money at this lark.Ignored
you are right, old working systems are only the best (if they exist somewhere)
