Disliked{quote} Jen I get the maths but it doesn't really explain what gravity is. It's still theory. When the apple became ripe and broke contact with the tree, it fell to the floor and stopped. It fell due to it being more dense than air, it stopped due to it being less dense than the ground it fell upon. Nothing more in my opinion.Ignored

Why did the apple fall down to earth and not sideways or upwards?
There is a force between all objects, in the case of planets they are gravitational fields. Why do you think planets orbit a star? Why do moons orbit planets? A large ship would pull a small boat towards it, purely due to its mass. A pumpkin would exert a pulling force on a pea, if you could measure that. This is not theory; it is proven.
If m1 is the earth and m2 is an object, G and m1 are constants. Then it all depends on the distance dropped and the mass of the object dropped. Assuming 2 objects of different masses are dropped from the same height i.e. r becomes a constant too, then the heavier object would hit the earth with a greater force.
If you raise your arm, gravity does bring it back down to earth, if your arm suddenly went dead. Your muscles are exerting an opposite force equal to the force as per the above equation.
Prior to just recently, I had never heard of anyone disputing some really basic science that has been proven over and over and used in all kinds of applications for centuries. It was only Muslims who believed the earth was flat! What next? Disputing genetics? That it is OK to inbreed? Can't you see what this is all about? Islam by the back door.
