Why can't every good trader teach well? 17 replies
DislikedAlready over 10 pages, so I think the answer has been given already! It is not necessary that the person who is good at guiding is good at doing it as well. The simplest example is sports, as you see many coaches becoming greats yet were ordinary or hardly recognized players. So, it is not necessary that if someone is good at guiding, he should be good at trading too. As sometimes a good teacher is bad trader due to emotions or various issues. So, it’s must not to mix both things.Ignored
Disliked{quote} The thing is that with coaches you already know what kind of players they were. It's not like they keep their credentials secret. Now, how many trading teachers will tell you that they aren't making any money from trading or that they are making very little ? How many students would trust someone who admits he is not a good trader yet he claims he can teach others how to trade ?Ignored
Disliked{quote}so, to sum it up, someone to be able to teach you something you need, doesnt have to be the best trader or fund manager out there, have to be someone you are willing to learn from, who willing to teach, or even just motivate you to do the right thing. if all the kids start learn to swim must rely on champions to teach them, we would have lot less ppl swimming in summers...Ignored

Disliked{quote} a problem with lines. after the prices are there already, i can draw you lines in, that will teach you anything with any rules. that will work all the time , its the problem that people think it looks same when price was not already visible . past analysis is complete useless (complete! ) if you did not do this before and this drawed things happen to a good chance later. and you can compare with the reality later as past analysis. only this past analysis, you only learn how to draw a line. i know, its not a nice rule, but a true rule.Ignored
DislikedThere are 1 or 2 potentially good systems out there for free, but they are manual, difficult to backtest... If I was lazy, I would simply buy an EA (backtested first) rather than paying someone to teach me a manual strategy that I don't know if it works.. DOES IT MAKE SENSE ?Ignored
DislikedThere's no denying that there's a huge amount of snake oil being sold -- caveat emptor -- but there are also a few very successful traders who teach as a sideline. As to their motive for doing so -- why an income from trading alone is not enough -- you'd need to ask them. Perhaps their reasons go beyond the money.Ignored
Disliked"good traders trade, bad traders teach" Yes... and the best traders both teach and trade.Ignored
DislikedWhat are the reasons one should pay for a forex course? I'd like some genuine reasons since it makes sense that "good traders trade, bad traders teach"? Obviously if someone teaches for free it is completely different but I'm talking about all these paid courses - what are the reasons that justify making it worth a trader's time to earn money from teaching rather than trading? Your thoughts please! ChaceIgnored
