Disliked{quote} In spite of all theoretical considerations, I do believe that for trading EMA800 is to be preferred, even though SMA800 has its merits too. EMA200 envelopes are quite often in play too. Here NQ with EMA800 envelopes from Friday. {image}Ignored
Hello Medici welcome on this thread.

Everybody has the right to use his beloved Moving Average.
Everything has already be answered on this thread.
I use a "system" a global one and I always gives priority to the coherence of the system I use.
I am not at all convinced that EMA800 is better than what for Trading. Better than what ? I am sure that EMA 800 Envelope can be in specific circumstances work better than .....
But it is not the real point. It is IMHO secondary. Secondary means not "unimportant" but coming after.
Which is Important in the use of Moving Average for Trading is that Envelope(s) used as Templates allow us to inckude "most of " Price Action within Envelope(s) showing us the Trend(s) and their respective Amplitude. This way You can even determine the different Cycles / Waves at work within Price Action.
This way you can also draw Valid Trend Lines of various degree which, when broken, give you Action Signals for candidate Shorts or Longs.
