Disliked{quote} me? I don't consider myself one! While reading your post it did bring back lots of good memories I manage to witness the pro traders in a tier-1 dancing back in the late 80's for a short stint... UnLike you, I was at the other side of the food chain! Do you remember during the good days, you had telex operators surrounding you and position keepers helping around your blotters and trades? I was a position clerk then and well ... didnt regret being one as it was really an eye-opener to see you guys in action! It was really a mad-house...Ignored
Disliked{quote} can you sum up blotter on calculator without looking at punch keys working at supercalculator speeds? later we had supercalc blotters. nevermind now only need computer and deal for self is ok. same stuffIgnored
Disliked{quote} Yes! During those times we had cal with printing rolls on them so that even we dont look at the keys, that can be the fall back to check. Sometimes after cal the whole blotter, I cannot even make out the average cost cos the big figure is not recognisable ... imagine those guys had a good field day and is up half a buck and left a scout running close to end of the day .... then you would understand what kind of big figure will be on the average cost of the scoutIgnored
DislikedFTI so still fighting ... not convince by all the litterature about market structure ( forex only) , as a peep ... can i ask a dumb question ? (normally my peep status should authorize this ) so the question is : when price of eurusd is going up lets say 35 45 pips ... is it because of the" buyers" buying or the sellers not selling (in fact the sellers are waiting higher prices to get filled ....) or simply not there is more buyers than sellers so price is going up ..? i know it looks like a lot chicken or eggs stuff .... but if someone could help...Ignored

DislikedHi guys, long time no see, HFT are a problems I think, if given enough HFTs come into the markets, and their collective actions are not analysed properly, we may run into problems like the flash crash of 2010. HFTs are algorithms after all, no rationality or any sort, and no robots can trade the markets properly, if they have to crash the markets to do an order, they most probably will, given the in-efficiency of them being unable to model other robots' actions. The potential problem lies in the chain of causality when multiple robots start to try...Ignored
