DislikedThank you rck66.
I am having difficulty with the Chart Studio, having never used it. Perhaps I will call GFT and have someone give an overview to understand it. Right now everything is 'Greek' to me
Would someone be able to provide a step by step with the code? If not, I will try to do so once I figure it out with GFT's help.
Thanks.Ignored
After you open the program go to File--New (or click on the icon below File; same thing), you should get a blank screen,(it should say File-1* on the tab), then copy this code and paste it on the blank screen:
indicator Coppock_Spread;
input period1 = 80, period2 = 10, ma = 20;
draw line("Coppock"), line_ma("MA"), base("base", Histogram);
vars roc1(series), roc2(series);
begin
rate_of_change(close,period1);
roc1 := rate_of_change.line;
rate_of_change(close,period2);
roc2 := rate_of_change.line;
line := roc1 + roc2;
line_ma := sma(line, ma);
base := line - line_ma;
end.
After doing that, hit F7 or the second icon below file (the one that looks like lighting, or go to Build on top and left click on it and then click on verify module). It is going to ask you to save as, and then give it a name and save it with your documents or on any other folder as type CTL files(.ctl)(the default) Once you save it You should see on your ouput box a message like this:
Verifying file: C:\Documents and Settings\your name\your documents or folder\the name you gave it...
Done.
After that click on Install which is the second icon on the third row from the top, or go to Build--Install Module and click on it.
In your output box you should see:
Compiling (the name you gave it)
Installation Result: Module installed successfully
Done.
That should be it. I find that sometimes if DBook 360 is open it would not load up on a chart, so I advise to have DBook closed before you try to open it on a chart.
Once you open DBook 360 and have a chart open, go to set up indicators or add studies and select the indicator based on the name you gave it. Try to use The Setup Indicator Icon on top of the chart since you have to modify it a little bit just to show the histogram.
You should have the indicator on Subgraph 1, click on it, go to the right where it says Inputs/Style and select Style.
On Lines: you should have 3 things: Coppock, MA and base. Coppock & MA SHOULD NOT BE VISIBLE and base select it as a histogram and that should do it. Should you have any more questions, post them and I'll try to answer them.
Read the next post and you will see the results of the signals that I got. I feel like Don Shula felt after Dan Marino play his first NFL football game. Even though the Miami Dolphins lost, Don Shula was smiling. (I am assuming you know and follow american football).
