This week, as I venture into the topic of Perception and Filters, I want to lay the groundwork with a definition of Perception (from Wikipedia) and present some information about Energy Chakras:
"Perception... is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of the environment by organizing and interpreting sensory information. All perception involves signals in the nervous system, which in turn result from physical stimulation of the sense organs."
So, physical stimulation of the sense organ >> sends a signal to the nervous system >> end result: Perception i.e. awareness or understanding...AFTER the "organizing and interpreting" is done by our brain and our minds. By now you can probably see where this is heading . Much more on that to come for sure.
Sense organs are those parts of our body which are wired to receive input and to feed information to our brain:
Eyes (sight)
Ears (hearing)
Tongue (taste)
Nose (smell)
Skin (touch)
I am going to add one more: the Solar Plexus, which is not really an ogran per se (it's really a dense concentration of nerves), but plays a big part in the automatic processes our mind is capable of. Here is some interesting information concerning the Solar Plexus (the third chakra) from About.com:
This is the area which defines our "self-esteem". The personality that develops during puberty is housed in this chakra....otherwise known as the "EGO". Anyone experiencing dysfunction of the third chakra is having difficulty obtaining or maintaining his/her own "personal power". This intuitive chakra is where we get our "gut instincts" that signal us to do or not to do something. Strong self-esteem is required for developing intuitive skills. (Typo edited).
Will stop here for now. Don't want to get ahead of myself . Just getting our thinking juices flowing a bit...

P.S. A chakra is an energy centre that governs a certain part of the body. There are seven of them.
P.P.S. Not advocating any Hindu or other religious practice, but I think the knowledge of what is a human reality (i.e. energy centres), without the inclusion of a religious belief is what I am after here. It is only for the sake of helping traders understand how to deal with the heart-mind issues that come into play that can affect them and therefore, their trading results.
