well if you're like me, a backtesting freak you want to see all kinds of markets including the very very old ones the argument here being that if the system does well since the begining of the stock market it becomes very unlikely that this will change soon.
so i've downloaded dow jones data from yahoo.finance since the 1930's. 80 years ago!
metatrader doesn't allow dates earlier than 70's and dates older then 2038 so in the metatrader file i've changed the dates with +50 years. if you see in metatrader 1980's that means it's data from 1930's.
the way to import these files is this: tools->history and select an instrument(any one currency) and a timeframe.choose import and import this file.you should disconect from the account because it can update itself; you can use a separate metatrader for this backtest.
test your system on this data and argue if the following is true or false: markets never change.
