maybe because in an uptrend you should be looking to buy the dips?

IMO, I think you need to look closer at your demand on a lower TF. See mine where I marked off the source of the bullish rally? With more specific zones you can reduce your draw down with increased accuracy.
Also, don't forget to mark out your SRs. (The ones on my chart have a lot of history... good ones to keep on the chart)
