DislikedScooby original BOJ basket closed in overall profit - approx2 hoursIgnored
DislikedSteve, are you demoing Scoob's trend retracement EA yet? How is it doing for you?Ignored
DislikedRight you are Steve - a nag a day keeps the coding brain farts away.
Yes, I'm using trade exit time limits. 5 hours as well.
Does anyone have stats on buys and sells for BOJ since the beginning. From this we can data mine what are the optimal buy expiry and sell expiry times.
My gut feel/observations is "buys" happen a lot quicker, so therefore the expiry time is shorter.
My suggestions for timers;
Buy = 150 minutes
Sell = 300 minutesIgnored
Dislikedblimey the 516 EA is a bit of a train-wreck today....I'd suggest removing some exotics or at least having that option in future versions.Ignored
DislikedPlayng from memory, I am fairly sure it was getdown who first posted about using mptm to cut trades short after a certain period, and saying that this had cut the number of big losers down a lot, or something like that. This is why there is the trade expiry time feature in 2.3.

DislikedThanks, Steve,

if the prediction is valid this time, then usually, in 1 or 2 hours, the market should move towards the direction EA predicts.
......
if the market did not move, or slowly move a little against the positions after quite a few hours, this in fact announce the set-up for the entries ARE NO LONGER VALID. or at least, very likely not valid. now these positions are very likely liablilities!
......
To sum-up, the positions not moving to EA's favored direction in 1~2 hours are milk that turning sour. it might...Ignored
DislikedShort CAD/CHF in Zoogle's version of the 20-200-ema RSI sys., etc., at 1.0279. @ red vertical line.
That's nearly at 44 pips of average daily range of 101 pips (ie. at about 44% of ADR), ie. it's circa 44 pips above the day's low so far of 1.0245.

DislikedTo address the unfavourable R:R ratio I've lowered my sl to 50% and left tp at 25.
I like your idea bit9ret, let's see if I have it down pat:
- user defined ADR threshold percentage (l'll use 50)
if current price < today's open + (0.50 * ADR) >>> allow buy
if current price > today's open - (0.50 * ADR) >>> allow sell
As for your cad/chf position, I don't see how that could have been a valid sell since the h01 ema has been above the h04 ema since jan. 26th meaning we only buy.
What I've found to be the biggest problem personally, and I'm surprised...Ignored
DislikedYes, Ive noticed it as well, and think Scooby mentioned it a while ago. The problem seems to rely on the fact that at high-impact news times, the FF Calendar page gets overloaded and it cannot be accessed, so the indicator returns a false value.
A possible solution is to make the indi check the news every, say, 12 hours, and register the scheduled release times for the whole next 12 hours. The EA should then have to have a function that automatically disables trading from x minutes before and until y minutes after the scheduled news release times,...Ignored
