The reason I had the problem, and the reason that I posted the policy editor solution that allows you to disable restarts specifically, is that I do not have this set to: "Turn off Automatic Updates".
Instead I have "Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them".
This will result (at least on my computer) in restarts in the middle of the night, if I ignore the the yellow update icon for long enough.
So if anyone wants to have windows download but not install the updates AND not reboot the computer automatically, then please see the first post of this thread for the link on how to do this.

Quoting piccoloDislikedopen Control Panel ("Start" -> and then there should be the control panel somewhere). Then choose "Automatic Updates" and configure it how you want it, everything else is self explanatory. Hope it helps.
My PC goes for months without reboots.. it is not just microsoft.. you have to have a good hardware and proper drivers installed, too.Ignored
