Hello,
can anyone create an EA for the "Heiken Ashi Smoothed" Indicator?

The EA should do the following:
When the candle of the indicator is red, open a sell trade and as soon a green candle shows up, close the sell trade and open a buy trade at the same time.

When the candle of the indicator is green, open a buy trade and as soon a red candle shows up, close the buy trade and open a sell trade at the same time.

So it is always only a single trade open.

No stop loss, no take profit.

The EA should allow to enter the lots you want to trade.
And it should also automatically increase the lot size, when the balance has increased.

Lets say, you have 10,000$ and want to risk 1% of the balance, the EA should automatically trade the corresponding lotsize.
Therefor it should also be possible to enter the maximum percentage of your balance you want to risk for the trade.

The timeframe does not matter.

Thank's already for any help ;-)

if you have no stoploss it is impossible to calculate 1% risk.

Sorry I mean 1% of the balance for the calculation what lotsize to use, not a real moneymanagement ;-)

I second this request. But the thread is almost 3 years old. Maybe someone can make a working EA now but with optional SL and TP.

I created this EA a while back and use it every so often during trending (non choppy) trading conditions. The EA opens a trade when color of candle changes and closes when the color of candle changes. It places trades one after another based on color changes. I also incorporated take profit, stop loss, breakeven and time management. The EA does well in higher time frames, especially in H4 during trending markets. I could never find an EA on the internet that used Heiken Ashi Smoothed in a simplistic manner. So here it is.

heyOtis, thanks for the EA i was back testing it and the flaw i notice is that it OPENS trade once color changes and candle is "CLOSED" that is the major flaw in it because by the time it opens trade its TOO LATE of an entry.

If you can develop and EA that opens trades on "BREAKOUT" of of the heikhen ashi it wud be much better leme give u a picture of my manual system that i mix heikhen ashi with LINE charts.

Pls note this is GBP/USD chart on 1HR time frame using line charts with smoothed heken ashi. 55 EMA us filter for trend so taking trades only above 55 EMA each time line chart breaks out of the heken ashi cloud. If an EA could be based on this, i think we'd have something interesting on our hand.

GoodBoy, I made some alterations to the EA and incorporated some elements of your trading style. I have changed the EA to place trades if the candle opens as a different color. I have noticed however that choppy trading conditions can trigger problems. I also incorporated a 55 EMA in H4 as a filter for the H1 time frame. I found this to be somewhat more reliable than the EMA on the same time frame. I have incorporated some notes in the variables section if you would like to make any alterations being that this is closely alined with your trading system and you would probably know the best parameters to set.

Hello Otis, and thanks for the valuable input Goodboy.

This EA looks great, thanks a million. The best I've seen in a while.
I managed to get it going today, and it already made one profitable trade.
Just not sure where u set the STOPLOSS.
Can u advice me plse.

I really can do with more genuine EA's like this one, as there are a lot of free crap out there that just let one loose money in the long run.

I'm slowly but surely finding my feet as trader, and really appreciate you sharing some of your knowledge/experience. Feel free to share more tips and EA's, as I can really do with the help as I lost quite a bit going through the learning curve...!

All of the best... and many many pips for 2012 !!
Talk to u soon then.

Thanks Interbucks, I'm glad you can utilize it. I have found that it works quite well during European and US trading. Sometimes Asia is good, but with the chop that tends to occur during that session you only get one big move there every week or so, and to me its not worth the risk. 1/3/2012 was a great Asia session for this EA but the rest of the week hasn't been reliable. On that note, a lot of veteran traders trade the opening and daily range (setting stops above or below the daily open or US or Eur open and buying or selling in the opening direction), and you might try your hand at that if you haven't done so already. You might be surprised how many times this works. Happy trading.

Thanks a million... will check out that info....!!

Yes, I noticed since its not something you can set and forget, or utilise every day.
I got caught yesterday, where the colour change activated a trade, just to reverse back to the previous colour moments later while continuing the trend.... resulting a 30 pip loss .... I had to jump in with a manual stop.
(Is there a way to prevent this kinda risk .... or it from happening again?)

I'm absorbing all the info and help I can get.... so plse feel free to share anything that can be used to help me get my trading back on track. My poor account took a couple of knocks lately, but I'm learning something new every day.

Thank you kindly
Happy pipping

hey Otis,

I use this same indicator but take my trades a little differently. I use a combination of the hieken ashi candle color and a stochastic trend indicator with a 3 and 30 exponential moving average as a confirmation. would you be able to mod this EA to use those inputs?

Hi all, I'm tring to understand how to use this good ea. Have you done some backtest and which parameters have you used? My backtests are all negative and I think I'm doing something wrong.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Nice one! Do u use the stoch settings 5, 3, 3, or is that not important. I also prefer to get a confirmation signal (as u mentioned), and to trade it manual..... Thanks for the info... I'm checking it out on my chart.
Feel free to elaborate a bit .... your method .....plse.

Thank you cash4u2 for starting this thread and giving a try at Heiken Ashi EA. Thank you too to otis16keith for the improvement. I always like to use this indicator on my manual trading. I shall try to use this on my demo first.

If I can suggest,.. can otis16keith add trailing stop on the EA. At lease after 20 pips or so, so that one can lock the pips this EA have collected. Keep up the good work... Hope 2012 can bring better prospect for the traders like me...

Here you go Hang Cool. May I also recommend the SDX Pivots indicator. It is quite helpful and I use it everyday. It automatically plots support/resistance, pivots, daily open, yesterdays high and low, Fibonacci levels, etc. It takes a lot of hassle out of trading and can be deadly accurate with Heiken ashi smoothed, RSI, and 50, 100, and 200 MA's. Good Luck.
