I need more candles!

I am backtesting a new system on 1hr charts. The furthest back I can seem to go with MT4 is Oct of 2003. Ive changed the options where it has max bars in history and chart, but it doesnt seem to matter what number is there, I cant get more data. Im using a regular demo account with MetaQuotes. Any ideas?
Hm, never tried to go so much back in time as far as I remember using 1H charts.
You can try to import Alpari data, maybe the imported data will go back in time more than 2003, here's the link where with relevant information http://www.forexfactory.com/forexfor...ead.php?t=6002.
Alternatively you may try to change your demo broker maybe it is a limitation of the broker.

Not sure, but I think After Changing the Number of Bars, you will have to refresh your connection to the server.

ie. Close and re-open platform.

Is there 1 hour data available from Alpari that goes back that far??

I'm keen to test a couple of methods through more summer periods.

I can change the number in MT4 to 5 million, open and reclose and it stops at the same period. Maybe I'll have to try to connect to some other demo account servers.
