Title says it all, what's your New Years resolutions for trading?

What will you resolve to do better in the new year?

What do you plan on improving?

What will you start doing new in 2013?

What will you try to cut out in the new year?

Etc..

What's your trading new years resolution?

--

As for myself, I plan on pushing myself out of my comfort zone and start taking some trades in longer timeframes (daily, weekly.) I usually scalp and trade intraday, which has a lot to do with my work's influence in equities where our trade floor is flat by the end of the day no matter what, but I've been experimenting with longer timeframes and strategies that would be considered swing trading and I can't ignore that there's opportunity to be had using strategies that hold for weeks or months. (Can't let myself get set in my ways, gotta expand my ability to include trading styles that aren't my main digs.)

My plans for 2013 is to document every trade. I am creating a trading journal process on my computer. I have over looked journalling and I think it is about time that I focus on getting that right. I wish I journaled my losing trades for 2012, I would love to look back to gain a better understanding to what happened throughout the trade. I'm thinking about video journaling, sort of like a video blog before and after trades, explaining my feelings toward the executed trade.
You will become a successful trader, the question is "WHEN"

to move more into stocks particularly penny stocks as this is where my strong point is and where i can make some decent returns.

My new years trading resolution is to trade my plan and only my plan. Discipline, in particular patience, is something I need to improve upon. I also resolve to never use another indicator on my charts again.
Conventional wisdom leads to conventional results.

Hmmmm, that's a good question. I'm gonna try and trade a little more than I did this year so I guess there's a discipline problem going on.

Or I could try to trade longer term and take more holidays. Sounds like a much better plan of action. Now, if only I could stick to it.

What will you resolve to do better in the new year?
According to my method, I will continue to try and focus on the method more than on my “belief”.

Quoting Jack_Larkin
What do you plan on improving?
Knowledge ….. and skill in trading the method.

What will you start doing new in 2013?
I'll stop being such a pest to the good people who post on FF. Aside from that, I'll focus a bit more on longer term trades.

What will you try to cut out in the new year?
see above

I resolve to (try) not to take really stupid trades which in hindsight were obviously wrong (attention to detail).

At any rate, as the year rolls into the Lucky '13 it should be the best ever. That's hot?

This thread struck a chord with me and I wanted to say something about my own personal resolution for this year.

I personally don't like resolutions, because it always just makes me feel like I should be doing whatever my resolution is / are already...but alas, I will go ahead and make one for my 2013 trading.

This year, my trading resolution is simply to be organized and disciplined. I know that sounds cliche, but this is seriously my resolution. I want to be organized in the way that I track my trades as well as have an organized trading office, and I want to be disciplined enough to only trade when my trading strategy is TRULY present. These things go hand in hand together I suppose, but for me it's really just about trading like I "should" and like I know I "can"...so I guess that is my 2013 trading resolution.

This article about trading resolutions really got me thinking: 5 new year's trading resolutions for 2013

I especially like point 1 where he says "I will aim to be a better person in general"...because really isn't trading just a reflection of your ability to have self-control in the face of temptation? Isn't that one of the primary traits of a "good person"? I think it is and I am aiming to have more self control this year and to start thinking of patience and discipline as things that make me money rather than boring or mundane.

That's my little "New Years rant"
Happy trading in 2013

My new years resolution is to have a new years resolution everyday. Why wait until the year ends to have a resolution?

The resolutions that I've been working on..

1. Increase awareness of perception anticipation and my own automated application when trading.
2. Dig further into psychology and meditation.
3. Read as much as I can.
4. Reach 10,000 hours of pure trading and research experience (almost halfway there).
5. Make money.

Cheers,

Peter
