Proposal is as follows:
1) Platform MT4 equipped with Those scripts, RSI(3) and CustomCandle indi, and RSI arrows indi (I'm not sure if this one works properly with backtesting, so maybe it will be necessary to look at the candles and read RSI direction for higher TF from candles)
2) Start date:...
Quoting WhistlepipsDislikedGood ideas. Could it be a good idea to present SL levels with minimum sl required and also the range of sl placed abowe/below last sving low/high. Someone just asked, if smaller SLs could be used. With TP one option would be to check TP according to consolidation levels TPCL1, TPCL2, etc. => as long as it goes if you let the position run.
IMO making transactions would make the job a lot harder, but I do them if others agree. Can you change TFs in MT 4 easily during testing? Do we also check 3 taps? As I mentioned earlier Im interested in testing GBP/USD and EUR/JPY.Ignored
Quoting AntharDislikedI like it as it is and will give my opinion on the final matters you stated:
1. I think we should just look for potential TP and SL in this round at least. We might improve and refine the research in a future round.
2. Results must be presented in PIPS.
3. As someone, I think Whistle, said we should take note on all existent levels of TP, this requieres personal discretion and may vary, but we can't avoid that and we know it.
4. Way to present results could be an excel sheet with the fields:
date, price and time of entry, SL, TP1 and TP2 if exists, time of exit.
I might prefer to keep it simple but important things might be escaping from my thought. Please add to this.
Also, I think it's very important to keep discussion on this outside the thread so we don't use too much space in it. I'm willing to handle it on PM, mail or whatever, and in the end present results to eveyone in the thread. What do you guys think?Ignored
Quoting GhostMcFlyDislikedThere is a results tab in the visual tester - see the attachment to this post. Right click on the results table, save as report (html) - it will produce a detailed statement of all positions made during the test. That is why I think everyone can benefit from this test, because it will be possible to check every position, TP and SL, and the test will be more credible than someone making entries in ms excel sheet.
There should be also log files for the test in the following path: /yourPlatform/tester/logs. Moreover these logs can uploaded in the Journal tab of the visual tester. (i haven't checked how it works yet, but looks very promissing - maybe we could share logs from the test).
I will be using LG setups and indicators. CustomCandle is only because it is not possible to change TF during the test. If CustomCandles need a clarification then I can make one. I do not advise using this candles in trading and I do not use them myself, because they make the picture unclean (eg. for me consolidation and S/R zones mess up with custom candles on my charts). The simpler, the better.Ignored
DislikedYall are way ahead of my computer abilities. I will participate in the testing as much as I can figure out, but don't want to slow you down for a school on back testing.Ignored
DislikedSure, that's why I proposed to keep it simple in the way of doing a simple, old-fashioned testing for starters... and in a second round make a more sophisticated and accurate testing using all those tools provided.
That's just my thought guys, I'm up for what the groups agrees.Ignored
DislikedDo we ageree on what is proposed in point 1?
Scripts and CustomCandle are to make manual backtesting possible and to have ability to look at lower TF what is impossible in ordynary MT4 backtesting.Ignored
QuoteDislikedConcerning the point 1...
DislikedConcerning the point 1 have you figured out a way to move between timeframes during testing? My platform will lead me back to present day every time I change TF. This will not be a problem if I use a single time frame, but it slows significantly down my testing. One option would be to mark down all the setups in a single TF and then go to lower TF´s and go through them all.Ignored
DislikedI was thinking about that and to make it simple we shall maybe skip lower TFs in first attempt? So in this trial focus on D1 an H4 depending on "asignment" What do you think?
I'm really disappointed with customcandle indi...Ignored
DislikedYes it was a pity that it wont work for us at the moment. Ghosts "stratman" indi looked promising, but I wasn´t able to make it work in my MT 4. Maybe it is better to use a simplistic approach in this first attempt and develop methods during the journey.Ignored

QuoteDislikedSo simplified, sticked to 1 TF, with listing possible TPs and SLs? Do we agree on that or I mixed something up?
