Hi everyone. I have until lately been a forex.com user. I trade for quite some time FX and have some solid experience in trading stocks. Mostly trade news events. I use Bloomberg terminal to get the numbers with minimum latency, this allowing me to go either long either short or no trade, depending if the number hits my triggers. So I have been doing this on forex.com and always made some nice pips. Lately they noticed that so they do not allow me now to place trades with 2 minutes before any news event. That is not nice of them.

So now I am scouting for new brokers. Came across DBFX. Checked the forum here and other forums to find posts about them. Most of the posts were stating that they use the same platform as FXCM (we all now they are not a serious company now, but used to be). But nobody on these forums trades with them at least I did not find someone. So I have phoned them and talked with some guy Michael (not good for my phone bill as I live in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1lace w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Romania</st1:country-region></st1lace> and it is damn expensive) and asked him the following questions:
<o></o>
Why are they located in <st1:City w:st="on">London</st1:City> and not in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Germany</st1lace></st1:country-region>. He told me that is because that’s where one important FX market is.
<o></o>
Why are they using the same platform as FXCM. He said that there is chance to be the same platform since there is a third party company that develops the platform. Neither DBFX, neither FXCM develop that platform.
<o></o>
If they are reliable during news releases. The answer was yes. But during very high volatility in the market they can not guarantee that and we can understand that (read the thread Darkstar posted about the structure of a forex broker).
<o></o>
If they have bad habits like disconnecting the users from time to time and other bad things I herd about FXCM. The answer was no. Although he told me that it may be possible for people that have poor quality internet access to be disconnected from time to time. That is ok. I own an ISP company in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Romania</st1lace></st1:country-region> and I can explain that from a technical point of view (private message me if interested).
<o></o>
If they have a dealing desk. The answer was that the whole process of trading is handled by an automated system. But in case something bad happens there are a bunch of guys there to handle the orders via telephone. Same answer I got from some ECN Brokers.
<o></o>
These were the most important aspects I have discussed with them. The rest was general talk about the market and why choose them over other brokers.
<o></o>
Their demo platform performs excellent. But we all now that demo is big difference then the real thing. Anyway I might go on a business trip in about 2 weeks to <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">London</st1lace></st1:City>. I will definitely pay them a visit. I will then post here new info. After that I think I will risk 10K with them and see how things will be going.
<o></o>
I wish you all a pleasant evening (it is evening in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Romania</st1lace></st1:country-region>) and successful trading.
