DislikedSteve, I think that the overtrading problem with the R&R bot in post 1 can be solved by the following logic.
When a trade is executed test whether is it a long or a short and is it greater than 0.6 lots
If it is a buy > 0.6 send a sell trade and the lot size should be total lots of open buy orders minus total lots of open sell orders and then suspend all trading.
If it is a sell > 0.6 send a buy trade and the lot size should be total lots of open sell orders minus total lots of open buy orders and then suspend all trading
Bearing in mind that...Ignored
DislikedI don't see any point in R&R sending a trade that it instantly neutralises. Instead, I will add a maximum lot size so that the bot aborts any trade that would exceed this.
Cheers.

DislikedMorning Steve, many thanks for your offer to modify R&R, unfortunately in my previous post I neglected to explain my reasons for asking you to do it in that way. If you just stop trading at some point you are always going to be left with a net position either long or short and if the market then goes against you it will continue to ermpty your account. Doing it by creating a "neutral hedge" position and then not opening or closing any more trades freezes your loss at its current level, whatever the market does, even the biggest move in 20 years...Ignored
DislikedHi Steve,
I am seriously abusing the bot to see where it breaks (as usual), and rather surprisingly it is still alive.
Interesting concept - I will keep you informed

DislikedSteve, thanks very much for adding the new feature.
Neutral hedging simply means at a predetermined point equalising the hedge buy and hedge sell lots so that the net loss position on the pair will remain constant irrespective of price movement, thus giving you an opportunity to take stock and decide what to do. Manually getting out could be by closing all positions and accepting the loss, or opening another hedge manually to try and eliminate the loss, or any other strategy that the trader chooses, the main point being that you have time...Ignored

DislikedI had a chance late yesteray afternoon to try out the new freeze trading feature, I set the level fairly low at 0.8 for the test. As soon as a 0.8 buy trade was triggered it worked a treat, sending a sell trade straight away and suspending all trading. The lot size wasn't quite right and will need tweaking otherwise it worked perfectly as intended.
Buy lots open on the above were .01, .02 and .08 Total = .11
Sell lots open were .01 and .04 Total = .05
Freeze trade for a sell should have been .06 (Buy lots minus sell lots), and it was actually .08...Ignored
DislikedDear Mr Hopwood,
Rather than creating a perfectly neutral hedge, can the Freeze Trading at Lot Size also incorporate a feature that either adds or removes say 0.01 lot from the prefectly neutral hedge position (lets call this the "Exposure Trade").
In that way, while we are away form the screen (in my instance it can be periods of upto 6 hours) we have a small exposure to the market to reflect our sentiment on the particular pair....Ignored

DislikedSteve, thanks for that superfast mod, much appreciated, closing lower hedge levels at breakeven would be great if this didn't result in any LUC problems.Ignored
DislikedDone and uploaded to post 1 as a user choice. AllowLowerHedgeBE_Close is the relevant input. Scrubs up well in backtesting. Set the input to false and R&R should simply lock up the position with no further interbention.
Not certain mind; this is me doing the coding, not someone who actually understands this stuff.
