Since this is the first I've contemplated soliciting work on an indicator am kind of wondering: Don't know whether to just leave it on FF and hope for the best, and the idea of paying up front makes me nervous. So here's where any suggestions you may have to offer - including doing the whole thing for free or other possible arrangement - would be most appreciated.
The instructions are kind of involved. Will post or send attachments should anyone be interested enough to aks for them:
Attached are three indicators (loosely defined):
1. - 3 MAs Cross Arrows.mq4, Indicator by FXfisherman (scorpion) - from which MA Cross Alert Screwed.mq4 (listed directly below) was derived, by removing one MA; adding alerts per Forex Factory thread "Do-it-Yourself Alert Builder Kit"'; and causing the alert to occur on the 0 bar by changing the code in the start function to "shift" where it originally said "shift+1".
2. - MA Cross Alert Screwed.mq4 (working title)
3. - MA Cross Arrows.mq4 - Indicator by FXfisherman (scorpion) which signals price crosssing a single MA, and possesses a desireable variable listed in the external variables as "Crossed_Pips". (This attribute functions, but not quite right, believe due to advent of 5-digit pricing.)
MAIN PROJECT:
What I want to do is add the Crossed_Pips variable found in the MA Cross Arrows.mq4 indicator (number 3 above) to my derived indicator. (number 2)
If this is possible then the Alert_Bar variable added with the Do-it-Yourself Alert Builder Kit can be dispensed with.
CLEANUP OF VARIOUS:
Also, several excentricities found to varying degrees in the three indicators need to be fixed in the second listed, to wit:
1. (a) The arrows display wrong: Up arrows are too high; down arrows too low. Preferrably they should be displayed some slight distance away from the the price bars, on either side determined by direction of signal.
(b) The indicator prints an arrow for every bar in a given direction till the MA's cross, then does the same thing in the opposite direction.
2. MA lines and arrows both revert to default size when the indicator is applied by imposing a template, regardless of how the indicator's external variables were set when the template was saved. (Can't figure out where the size settings for lines and arrows are in the code.)
3. (a) Artifacts found on chart after indicator is deleted, and during operation: The FXfisherman logo would be good to have for purposes of posting the cleaned up indicator on the FXfisherman website, which I intend to do anyway, and it may be you will insist on this due to copyright law. Actually, it's not so important if the logo stays on the chart when the indicator is deleted, because can always remove the code for my own purposes, but if it's something that's easy to do it would be nice to have the logo disappear automatically from the chart when the indicator is deleted rather than having to delete the object manually.
(b) There are two strange scroling decimal numbers displayed directly under the OHLC figures at the upper left of the chart, which do not disappear when the indicator is deleted. These are distracting when the indicator is attached because the number of digits varies frequently. Also, suspect some irregularity possibly related to this causes one of my indicators that I've used since 2006 to need to be refreshed manually before it will display after loading a template, which never happened before.
4. Finally, the Crossed_Pips variable found in the MA Cross Arrows indicator seems to be designed specifically for four-digit-after-the-DP charts, and numbers entered in the dialogue box must be multiplied by ten. (Am pretty certain this is the exact figure.)
