President Obama threatens Canada over price of oil
Since the Gulf oil spill two weeks ago crude oil deliveries to US oil refineries have fallen 12% and Canada’s Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, has told oil producers to use the opportunity to charge the USA more than double the usual price. Canada has the world's second largest oil reserves.
President Obama said on Thursday evening that he will send as many as 60 troops to the US border with Canada in an effort to force Canada to comply with agreed quotas. He said “There is no need of shock and awe in this instance. The Canadians are known to have as many as 9 jeeps and a number of French horsewomen but we are confident our show of force will make them see sense”.
In a telephone interview with the BBC Canada’s Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, said “Obama’s bully tactics will not work. They think they know our strength but have not reckoned with the elite Quebec Guard. They will be scared by the size of the hats, which make them look considerably taller than they actually are. This was proved succesful at the Battle of Busaco in 1810”.
