Hi roughtrader,

So what about the spreads in TS...typical spreads for major pairs??
any slippage ?
The spreads are very nice for a stp type broker, I think allmost all pairs are around 1,5, I didn't notice much slippage yet,
I will post a screenshot tomorrow.

On most MT4 brokers, spread for AUD/JPY is 5pips and for GBP/CHF is 7pips. But on TradeStation both are less than 3pips during active hours like London session.

Looks comparible to GoM. They basically offer pricing with a small markup where most brokers offer a larger markup and you would need to request a rebate or sign up with a rebate provider.

Allmost forgot, but here are a screenshot of the spreads from my Live acount today about 12:00 London time.
The spreads are lowest during the London session for obvious reasons

I have been trading Forex Futures with Tradestation since early 2010 and it is a super platform for futures. I decided to open a Forex account with them (which requires a new application still in process) and this thread was of great interest. To add more confusion to the mix with respect to the STD/ECN/MM question, here are two extracts from the same Tradestation Forex account application form. Looks very much like a contradiction to me. If anyone wants a copy of the full application form, message me and I will send it.

It's just legal language to indemnify TradeStation for any and every possible liability. If you are going to open account with the minimum $5,000, it really doesn't matter. But if you are concerned because you are moving a large portion of your trading capital e.g. $250,000 to TradeStation Forex, then be aware that forex is considered OTC market and your funds are not insured/protected by regulators unlike equities/futures accounts. So either way, just sign it. NFA can only do so much to monitor the forex brokers.

TRADESTATION FOREX INC NFA ID: 0422448

Compared with MT4 brokers (and their market making / counterparty tricks), you are much better off with TradeStation.

Iīve had terrible problems using the TradeStation simulator, itīs completely useless for simulating real time and backtesting in forex.

https://community.tradestation.com/D...opic_ID=124521

TS only gives BID side datafeed, so if you launch a buy order at market, it will be buyed at the price of the BID side instead of the ASK side, as it it in real time.

Besides this if you bactest your strategy you will have a very possitive bias because of that. And when you try real account, surprise!!!!

If you want to program and backtest systems, better to choose another plarform.

Any suggestions?
Many thanks!!!

Since they still do not offer a demo of their platform without funding an account I was wondering if any of you current TS traders can answer a few questions for me.

1. What time does their daily candle close? (NY or GMT)
2. Do you have any major complaints with them as a currency broker?
3. Does their platform work well with multiple monitors? or is it like MT4 and is horrible for multiple monitors.

Thanks traders. Would rather get info here than listen to in-house sales guy.

1. Daily candle close at 16:59 (5pmET) New York Eastern Time. The time-axis is in NY ET.

2. There will always be complaints. Some will eventually close account and some will stay on to feedback on the TS Forum either at EasyLanguage Support or Enhancement Suggestions sub-forums, where platform/software design engineers will interact directly with clients. I've been using TradeStation since 2006.

3. You should watch the video tours of the platform at TS website, or Google/YouTube on how to use TradeStation on multiple monitors. The platform is organized into Desktops and tabbed Workspaces. For me I use four 23" LCDs so each monitor has a fully customized Desktop#?.tsd profile and each Desktop can have many Workspace?.tsw tabs each containing multiple chart windows.

4. The last picture is a sample of 23" screen with 13 charts and 1 quote window, which you will have difficulties arranging on MT4 in similar fashion. Each chart's windows title bar is minimized to save real estate.

bstay2,
Beautiful! That is exactly what I was looking for. I was actually looking to PM you when I saw this thread, but you do not have it turned on. Thank you for taking the time to post this. I'm moving some funds and think they'll be worth the look. Once funded I'll have a deeper look at the TS Forum you linked to.

Thanks again. Very helpful!
Happy trading

Just a quick update. Have funded tradestation account and like what I see so far. Has a bit of a learning curve to it, but that's what their videos are for.
Thanks for the input bstay2

TradeStation is the Mercedes Benz in the trading Industry. I love it and I am using it since 2003. It is the most user friendly platform, and if you are using RadarScreen, easy to scan multiple markets one time and select the ones those are more productive.

Nothing comparable!

Hi all,

Just read the whole thread here and also i am about to open a FX account with Tradestation, really because they are imho the more established brokerage out there (it looks) and later on i also want to trade futures.
The problem with TS is that they do not seem to have a demo account available unless you actually open up a real account. So my question is the following. Which broker out there comes closest to Tradestation that actually let you do some damage on a demo firts before openening up a real account?
I m ok with MT4 but MT4 seems to atract a lot of shady brokers. Sugestion anyone?

Thanks
