Gentlemen,

Nice to see the flow of comments. Also nice to see the non-trade specific submissions - I say no more. I would like to particiapte a little more in the discussions, but I am 'in the field' somewhat, and so have no internet connection for a large majority of the time. Hope to be back in a few weeks.

I resubmit the following below and feel that this week is the start of some difficult sessions.

20 April: ‘Current’ Greek bond redemption.
29 April: Greek elections first proposal date.
06 May: Greek elections second proposal date.
12 May: Greek bond redemption.

...and also other national elections around Europe. In particular, France.

Are we about to see the strength of the Dollar kick in as the weakness of the Euro reveals itself further?

It's all looking a little messy up top, and I think without some fresh injection of fake capital, could see a bit of a drop coming along.

you are in fine company with that view Condor;

“ECB should step up purchases of bonds,” Jaime Garcia- Legaz, a deputy minister in Luis de Guindos’s Economy Ministry, said yesterday in an interview.

The yield on Spain’s 10-year bonds rose 16 basis points to 5.98 percent, edging closer to the critical 7 percent.(not sustainable beyond 7% and reached 6.8% last Nov before LTRO 1))

ECB Split - While Executive Board member Benoit Coeure signaled on April 11 the bank may start buying Spanish bonds, his Dutch colleague Klaas Knot said yesterday that the ECB is “very far” from reactivating a policy that failed to stop a selloff in Spanish bonds in November.

Roubini has an interesting take also;

Without a much easier monetary policy and a less front-loaded mode of fiscal austerity, the euro will not weaken, external competitiveness will not be restored, and the recession will deepen. And, without resumption of growth – not years down the line, but in 2012 – the stock and flow imbalances will become even more unsustainable. More eurozone countries will be forced to restructure their debts, and eventually some will decide to exit the monetary union.

my 2 cents in short form for what that is worth;

overall my opinion is that the dollar has probably bottomed unless the FED brings another atomic money bomb.

however, i think the FED is gaming the market with a lot of verbal interventions like Yellen from last Wednesday and Bernanke dropping subtle hints and timely here and there.

if the ECB steps into the fray and starts buying Spanish and Italian debt convincingly then the markets will calm down and the Euro will probably stabilize

part of the problem with LTRO is that with things turning negative/shaky so quickly it makes the policy makers look (really) stupid and to have come back to the public for more bailouts so soon after i think is getting too close to the line and something may have to give.

policy makers have to be acutely aware of the risks of a stimulus failure,........ a coordinated policy response cannot be ruled out

note; if the shtf i guess i might want to look to reverse my position on E/Chf from long to short (lol)
