This thread is old... IIRC, Wine does not support DDE. I ended up writing out a bunch of text files with the live data feed, and reading them with an external program.

I think I'll do it the way you suggested now - the alerting indication can be annoying when it triggers on multiple charts, etc.

Have you configured the email settings in Metatrader? Actually, since the markets are offline now, it cannot work yet. Check tomorrow if it sends email when a arrow is painted.
