Even traders of E/U fell into a liquidity gap when CHF went crazy, but that is besides the point. Diversifying does remove some of the liquidity gap risk, true. However, now you are facing an increase in directional risk due to having to time ...

Great to have you back, seneca! Could you share with us what kind of slippage you experience (average and worst case) when counter trend trading with the larger account? For example, have you ever experienced a 15 pip SL turning into a 50 pip loss ...

It may have been the wrong move, but how does that help you as a trader? The market is always right. Never forget that!

Matt, this event was foreseeable. It really was not as much a blackswan event as the crash of 1987, because the EUR/CHF was essentially not allowed to float freely. The entire market context was broken from the beginning. Pegs can be maintained, but ...

That's BillyRay type tradin' my friend. Took that trade also, however those bear exhaustion candles had me moving that stop to BE rather quickly.

Well, I wasn't talking about what works everyday but rather what can happen over a period of months. Some of the levels you mentioned in your strategy can yield negative results for a while until they pick up again. I am guessing that you use ...

Well, what I have noticed is that these levels do go in and our of effectiveness over long periods of time. Especially when a market switches from trending to ranging or vise versa. I find it impossible to tell when this will occur.

Amen, but don't try and convince the "dreamers" who call folks like me 'haters' and give their money to 'scammy gurus'.

10% monthly over time is not possible without taking a lot of risk. The kind of risk that wipes out accounts.

I am afraid this would not be sustainable over time.

I am curious as to the expectations of newer traders (which tend to be inflated), especially since most trading strategies (if they survive) converge to 10%/year over time.
- fxterrapin replied Apr 8, 2014
Anybody can make positive returns in trading forex. The problem is that this return is not enough for most to "live from trading". Most profitable trader's returns converge to around 8-9%/year over time (which is a bit below the stock market ...
