System Change — After several months of less than stellar performance, I've made the decision to "switch back" to only trading with the trend. On top of that, I'm going to be applying my own fundamental feelings as to define what the trend is. ...

If you read through all the posts, you will see that a few people have studied how this system would do with stops. They have shown that results would actually be worse with stops than as is without. If anything, I think a hedge type system would ...

Catching up... — I haven't posted in awhile because I've been waiting for all the "toxic" trades of late July to close out. Since I last posted results, those trades have been closing out. But as of this weekend, I am finally down to trading ...

Yonnie, I think it all comes down to personal preference on how you want to manage your risk. If your position sizes are so big that when a pair goes outside it's "normal" range, you are losing sleep, then yeah, some type of hedge position like you ...

What time frames do these movements occur over? Are these one-week moves? At the end of the week, this system adjusts its TP's, so there is a good chance, this system could have ridden through those extremes without sustaining the full drawdown.

Yes I did say that. And I struggled with the decision to trade both directions. I have no doubt that trading with the trend will outperform trading against the trend. What I am interested in is whether or not trading against the trend outperforms ...

Yes, I am. I am also going to start keeping track of the results with the trend and against the trend.

It's not as big of a loss as it appears. 23.28 to 23.927 is a loss of 2.78%. If this same movement were to happen on a Long trade on the Euro from 1.50, you would close out at 1.4583. Or a loss of 417 pips. Pips (for comparison's sake) really are ...

SJ Very impressive work!! I've always wanted to experiment with this system on a daily interval, but knew the manual work would exceed my time available. Can you give me an idea of how many backtested trades your version of this system looked at? If ...

I expect a short-term (3-5 day pull back) then a continued USD strength. I base that on nothing but "gut feel".

I wouldn't say I have the most experience. I've only been trading live since February. I have learned two things from the "USD saga". One is to not get greedy with return expectations by clamping down on the amount of capital being risked per trade. ...

Yonnie, I didn't mean to completely pass over your suggestion on a hedge to complement this strategy. This strategy obviously works VERY well when it stays within the normal and expected boundaries. When a currency like the USD decides to completely ...
