Actually that blog post you link to sounds like a refreshingly honest post similar to the one DS usually produces. After thinking about it I understand why he is changing direction and cleaning out his userbase. Good luck with the hedge fund ...

Part of the contract when buying the book was to have lifetime access to the website, to break this contract means you should refund everyone. This is a disgusting way to treat the people who invested in you early on. I hope you re-think the "purge" ...

This is the risk of directional trading with leverage, stop losses become market orders when triggered and can only be filled if there is someone willing to trade the other way. You would actually be better with a bucket shop as they are supposed to ...

Ok thanks for the advice, as I said in my last (few) posts, small accounts don't work for me, I have enough to start a largish account but don't want to risk real money until I have got into the swing again (trader this and other methods before). ...

This is a good point, but if each trade is worth thousands (albeit demo money) you would be more willing to wait. You don't risk any real money going for small wins. It all comes down to what works for you though, no one way is better than the ...

Thanks Donkey, I used to have that viewpoint, but I ended up not having the patience because I was waiting days/weeks to trade for a profit of £50-£100 or breakeven.

This answers my question above, why trade live when you can demo till you are profitable and confident and save enough to have a larger account in the meantime.

Hi fellow J16'ers, Coming back after some time away from trading, I intend to go through min-reqs again. I think one of Jim's most important messages is on account size and I understand it completely. I was thinking therefore demoing using a larger ...

Hi, I saw an email from Alpari saying that the SpreadBetting MT4 was now execution only. Does this mean the spreads are better than before and comparable to an MT5 account?

Hi, I have coded the Average Price Bars Indicator for MT5 for anyone who needs it. I just took the default included MT5 Heiken Ashi and added one line extra which alters the close slightly, got it from Xaphods post in this thread. I also include an ...

I agree, I find demo almost useless it's not at all like live trading, when you trade live you are psychologically involved in the market. Take 10% of your go live account and trade that then slowly add once you are profitable.

I am in a similar position, however I haven't completed any backtesting or forward testing yet. Still working out how best to do that (print the charts, bar by bar on Metatrader)? I plan to use one timeframe (hourly) and one pair (not decided yet), ...

I see what you are saying emmanuel, I used to trade the J16 style so you would be able to combine candles in your head and see pinbars over mutiple candles. Think I will stick to the hourly, just didn't know if this method was as effective as it it ...

Starting to create a trading plan, I am going to use the 2 hour chart, which is an option in MT5, I think it is high enough to not have noise but might get a few more signals, so will be checking 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm (UK time) This is most of the ...

Hi Gil, These are the files needed, the Statistics.mqh file has to go into the MQL5\Include folder, it is used to calculate the Standard Deviation for the Volatility band middle (yellow line). The TDI.mq5 goes in the MQL5\Indicators folder. Let me ...
