Thanks Amando. I'll check out ActiveTrades and their MT5 platform. Good trading, Jim

Hi Amando Like Tony, I'll be watching the Oanda spreads closely. In the meantime, could you say which broker you use? Thanks, Jim

Hi Talvinen In the short time I've used Oanda, I've had no slippage on pending orders during announcements. Ditto for stops. Tony buys shortly before the announcement, if this is what you mean by "market buy". @ mina1: I think you're asking about ...

Apologies, dekpips. Returning to the topic of this thread, do you trade the news?

You've got it right, Bernhard. A broker with a virtual dealing desk can do what he likes with SLs -- exactly why, as you say, Tony112 (and others on this forum) succeed at trading the news. A broker can allow little or no slippage if he makes money ...

In that case, why is there so little slippage (or sometimes none) with Oanda during announcements? You can verify this by reading Tony's previous posts on this thread. This is unlikely to have any thing to do with "the way the market works," but ...

Right, Jason. The usual broker's defense. It doesn't obscure the fact that FXCM slips stops negatively during announcements. Other forumites have complained of this elsewhere. Does it also widen the spread as well, just to make sure announcement ...

A MORI poll (the last one permitted) from a few minutes ago puts Scots no on 53%, yes on 47% with 95% of electorate saying they will vote. GBP/USD has just broken a resistance level. But substantial volatility may still occur.

Tony always buys. I'm not sure why he prefers this option to selling, but that's what he does. It seems to work for him in the long term.

Hi Nikki I placed 30-pip orders a few minutes before the speech but didn't leave them there. I did this in order to have them in place to quickly slide closer to the price a few seconds before the person's appearance. This obviates frustrating ...

By the way, Tony: this is a wonderful thread. So just ignore the occasional negative comment. Your bank balance is the final arbiter of your strat's success.

Ok, just straddled Yellen's testimony, and made +8 pips in 10 seconds. At 3 minutes before his appearance, I used Oanda's FxTrade platform to place orders to buy and sell USD at 30 pips above and below the current price. Then 20 seconds before, I ...

@ donetfreak I successfully straddled the news until a couple weeks ago when my broker limited me in ways which make it impossible to trade announcements in any manner. I did this by placing a buy and a sell order 10 pips above and below the current ...

I looked at CCC's site, and here's what it says about how fixed dealing spreads & SLs work: "during market hours and normal market conditions. Stop Loss and Take Profit orders that close a position originally opened by a Stop Entry may also be ...

Hi Silat50 Very insightful posts. However, I must point out that I made money just by straddling every red announcement on this site -- until my broker placed restrictions on my trading preventing me from winning. I probably can't identify the ...

Hi Tony Gov Carney is speaking at 5:15 PM GMT today and FOMC's Bullard at 6:05 PM GMT. Will you be trading these?
