My EA is not actually placing trades either. I can see the trades under the "experts" tab but it's not actually taking the trades to market. Hayseed, I always found the long entry troublesome because of spread. I am moving to a 2 pip broker so that ...

Sorry Ronnie but your EA is also placing trades wrongly (but this may be due to the range bug). It gave me a sell on Cable today at 1.7422 when the range went down to 1.7405 on the previous candle.

Ron, trust me the EA is set up correctly. I have optimised the TP, SL etc. I have watched the readout closely. As you say, before the trade box the range etc. shows zero. But when a trade is opened the range does not act correctly. It may show a ...

Hi Ron, OK I tried running the modified EA in visual backtest. As the first trade is entered, the 'upper range' and 'lower range' display their parameters and the 'range' shows the difference. For some reason the line 'range size' keeps showing ...

Yes indeed Ron.

Yes Ron, Maxrange. I tested it from 80 pips to 180. Same result every time.

Hey Ronnie, Your EA seems to be fine now apart from the range setting. You get the same result in backtesting (optimising) whatever the range setting. Thanks.
- mike4x replied Oct 4, 2008
Yes same here. The EA will not backtest - shows only 5 trades in 3 months and takes ages.

Hi EAProgrammer, Looking forward to your expert. If you get time could you include an option to close half at a first take profit level, then have another take profit at a further level? Many thanks.

Hey Nomo, Can we benefit from your experience here? I have been monitoring your system along side the original straight breakout system (of which the originators had been trading profitably for some time). Is it the current volatile market ...

For me this thread is better than the original re-opened Big Dog. That already has another "behave or I will close it again" threat. Thanks Toxic for your insights. I hand backtested Cable and Euro over the weekend and I can say that Cable is ...

Jeffng, Many thanks for the EA. Will be testing Cable thoroughly first. Any chance of having a setting for OCO on or off?
- mike4x replied Sep 12, 2008
I really think that we should concentrate only on GBP/USD. The system is Big Dog because the New York players come in to play. This mainly affects the USD and Cable is the pair that moves the most. I remember CT Guy saying the same thing. He only ...

Can you believe it! Everybody worried about trading when the range is high. Today's cable had a 120 pip range so I never entered. Could have taken my usual 25 pips within 2 minutes. Just shows how impossible it is to read Forex and have black and ...

Did any other pairs make a profit today? I had a small GBP/USD win but EUR/USD bombed out.
- mike4x replied Sep 11, 2008
I was in at 1.7495, SL 1.7535.
- mike4x replied Sep 11, 2008
Got a pain free 25 pips on cable today (TP) although cable seems out of sync with EUR/USD at the moment?
- mike4x replied Sep 10, 2008
Moneda, I make your box shifted one bar to the left. Can you check that? Today's trade was short not long. If I'd had a stop loss of 47 instead of 40 then I would have had a winner. These are the kinds of settings that we need to experiment with. ...

Ah well, we met stubborn resistence on cable at +7 pips today. I had a 40 pip loss in the end. Euro fared much better though I never traded it. Any other pairs make a profit today? Mike.
- mike4x replied Sep 10, 2008
Looks like today wil be a 10 or 15 pip profit grab with the range being 72 pips and a slow moving market. Mike.
