For those who are trading full-time, what path did you get started on? How did you actually take ...

It usually occurs the Thurs before expiration for the indicies. Or if unsure, just check a site like barchart which you can sort by live contract volume on the day, and just stick with the highest volume.

I would say so. I like it because it's light (can run off a pen drive), easy broker hookup, and easy chart management/organization. I have some friends who trade some serious size who like sierra but don't use it because 'it's ugly'. I kid you not, ...

Honestly, if you can't afford or see the value in $20/month for Sierra, you shouldn't be trading, let alone futures. Cheap platform in comparison to anything out there, and does just as much if not more. You should have seen what I paid for software ...

Broker that caters to people who shouldn't be trading, and are non-regulated in any meaningful sense. If you see credit card deposits, offshore/3rd world country registration, non ecn, "mt4!"etc...you are wasting your money. You'll have more fun ...

Sierra chart is the easiest platform i've used. and cheap. any timeframe you want. and you simply type '10t' for 10 ticks, or '3s' for 3-seconds, etc Word of advice: stay away from the piker brokers and MT4 if you are serious about trading. Get what ...

Don't get too bogged down on RTH vs globex stuff. I've looked at them extensively and there is no right or wrong answer; some days 24hr will prevail, and vice versa. Just choose one and stick to it. Here's what I do. I have my anchor chart with ...

no problem. i hop on forums in slow-trading times/downtime occasionally. I just stated that because I noticed the daily goals aspect, which tends to get skewed in periods of low volatility. Many setups do well in periods on high volatility - like ...

It's not profit until you exit. The exit is the name-of-the-game for a reason. I've had +14's turn into +1's etc. It doesn't matter because of expectancy. I've never met a career trader who had daily goals - they all had weekly/monthly/quarterly. ...

As someone who's been making a living trading futures for some years now...I would say your intuition is correct. At least it was for me. It becomes less stressful to see -1, -2 pt trades sprinkled in with +20's, than to see -1,+2,+2,-1, etc. If ...

Hard to make any sort of good reply as no one knows your style of trading. But in general....with many years trading...both your choices are wrong. Moving to breakeven is a newbie move to help with your psyche, temporarily, until you start to see ...

The problem with most T.A. junkies is the assumption that it works because of entry precision. Those who can make it work have a skill for dealing with the exits, whereas the entry is more-or-less a dart thrown behind shaky rationale.

The name of the game is exits. Look at what causes price to reverse against you and be pro-active about exiting, not waiting for the market to come hit your insignificant stop. And moving your stop to b/e is not 'managing risk', no matter how many ...
