U.K. election — when will we know who won?

The Brits are heading to the polls on Thursday, June 8, in an early general election that is turning out to be a lot more uncertain than anyone had expected it to be. Polling stations open at 7 a.m. London time (2 a.m. Eastern Time) on the day and voters can cast their ballots until 10 p.m. U.K. news media will immediately after 10 p.m. (5 p.m. Eastern) publish an exit poll that might give an early indication of who has won. In the 2015 election, the BBC poll that came at 10 p.m. correctly showed the Conservatives had won the most seats. The first local result is expected before midnight, likely from Sunderland, ...
