UK GDP growth of 0.4 per cent in 3 months ending in November 2016

Our monthly estimates of GDP suggest that output grew by 0.4 per cent in the three months ending in November 2016 after growth of 0.4 per cent in the three months ending in October 2016. Rebecca Piggott, Research Fellow at NIESR, said “Service sector growth remains robust, driven by consumer spending. We estimate that the rest of the economy has contracted in the three months to November. Looking ahead, we expect consumption growth to slow as inflation picks up due to sterling’s depreciation, eroding real income growth.” NIESR’s latest quarterly forecast (published 2 nd November 2016) projects GDP growth of 2 per ...
