As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the index of import prices decreased by 2.6% in August 2016 compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In July and in June 2016 the annual rates of change were –3.8% and –4.6%, respectively. From July to August 2016 the index fell by 0.2%. The index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, decreased by 1.9% compared with the level of a year earlier.
