Consumer prices in Germany rose by 0.5% in January 2016 compared with January 2015. The inflation rate as measured by the consumer price index increased slightly at the beginning of the year. In December 2015, it had been +0.3%. Compared with December 2015, the consumer price index fell markedly by 0.8% in January 2016. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) thus confirms its provisional overall results of 29 January 2016.
