German Consumer prices in January 2016: +0.5% on January 2015

Consumer prices in Germany rose by 0.5% in January 2016 compared with January 2015. The inflation rate as measured by the consumer price index increased slightly at the beginning of the year. In December 2015, it had been +0.3%. Compared with December 2015, the consumer price index fell markedly by 0.8% in January 2016. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) thus confirms its provisional overall results of 29 January 2016. The development of energy prices has had a downward effect on the overall rise in prices since July 2014. Energy prices as a whole were markedly down again in January 2016 from a year earlier ...
