VW battles workers and investors
Volkswagen is facing tough demands from both workers and investors, as the embattled car manufacturer struggles to repair its reputation and share price in the wake of revelations that it was manipulating the results of regulators’ emissions tests. Unions at the German giant want a pay rise of 4.5 to 5pc despite the company’s woes. IG Metall is pushing for the raise for its members, 12 months after it demanded a 5.5pc hike in pay and negotiated a 3.4pc settlement with extra pension benefits.
