Asian markets to open up, commodities jump after Russian jet shot down

Asian equity markets are expected to open in the green on Wednesday, after Wall Street eked out gains on the back of an uptick in commodity prices. The Australian SPI futures pointed to a 23-point, or 0.4 percent, increase in the ASX 200. Meanwhile, the Chicago and Osaka Nikkei futures were up 35 points, or 0.18 percent, and down 120 points, or 0.6 percent, respectively, trading at 19,910 and 19,840. U.S. markets closed mostly higher on Tuesday after oil prices and energy stocks jumped, reversing an earlier decline on news of a downed Russian jet near the Syrian border.
