Bank of England Governor Mark Carney victim of Canadian art sale scam
The Governor of the Bank of England has inadvertently been caught up in an art scandal in his native Canada after buying a painting for thousands of pounds. Mark Carney bought the 5ft by 6ft oil painting by Kim Dorland from a flamboyant art collector for £11,870 last year. The deal, which included a 10 per cent discount, was brokered by Canadian television presenter Evan Solomon who has interviewed Mr Carney several times and referred to him as 'the Guv'. Following the deal, Mr Solomon reportedly told his collector that Mr Carney 'has access to the highest power network in the world' and could be 'a great client'. ... (full story)
