U.S. Stocks Fall, Dollar Gains With Treasuries on Fed Decision
U.S. stocks fluctuated while the dollar gained after the Federal Reserve kept its pledge to be patient on raising borrowing costs even as the economy strengthens. Treasuries rose and oil plunged below $45 a barrel as the central bank said inflation will decline further. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index dropped 0.2 percent at 3:01 p.m. in New York. Energy producers in the gauge plunged 2.7 percent, while record earnings at Apple Inc. boosted technology shares. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index climbed 0.4 percent.
