NZ dollar hits fresh three-year low ahead of RBNZ

The New Zealand dollar has fallen to its lowest level against the greenback in more than three years as markets predict the Reserve Bank will cut the official cash rate this year. The kiwi briefly touched US73.95c shortly after 7am, the first time it had been below US74c since November 2011. Earlier in the session it had been trading at US74.6c before rebounding to US74.2c by 10.30am. The kiwi made a similar move against the euro, falling from €66.2c to €65.6c as the euro strengthened after an anti-austerity party won the Greek election.
