ANZ job ads rise for seventh month

Job advertisements rose for a seventh straight month in December, but are not translating into lower unemployment as job losses also remain high. The widely watched ANZ job ads report has recorded its seventh consecutive monthly gain, jumping 1.8 per cent in December. The number of job ads on the internet and in newspapers is now 11.4 per cent higher than they were a year earlier. However, the rise in ads has yet to translate to a reduction in unemployment, with the November Bureau of Statistics figures showing 6.3 per cent of the labour force out of work, and no improvement expected in December's data due out this ...
