It’s a widely held expectation that stocks should fall as bond yields rise, but history — and recent experience — shows that isn’t necessarily so. That could make for an important consideration in 2015 as the Federal Reserve moves toward widely expected rate hikes. Indeed, the phenomenon was on display in the wake of Wednesday’s Federal Reserve meeting. Treasury prices were routed, pushing yields 10_YEAR, -0.66% higher, as Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen signaled rates might begin to rise a bit sooner than had been expected.
