Bill Gross likely took a big pay cut to join Janus

Less money, fewer problems. That may be Bill Gross’s new mantra, as he embarks upon a new chapter of his storied fixed-income career. Gross was rumored to be making $200 million annually when he managed the $200 billion plus Total Return Fund PTTRX, +0.00% at Pimco, according to a 2012 New York Times story that cited an anonymous source. But he’s likely making nowhere near that kind of dough at his new digs at Janus Capital Group, according to analysts. Pimco did not provide a comment on Gross’s pay to MarketWatch.
